After having to deal with many nail polishes that looked great at first, but looked less shiny and like I had been wearing the polish for weeks after less than two days, I decided to try out the Maybelline New York Super Stay Gel Nail Color 7 days in Ruby Lust. This is the kind of colour I tend to go for; dark red, but not too brown. I have a lot of laquers in this shade, but I'm always on the hunt for the next best thing (I told you I was addicted to beauty products). I had been reading great things about the Maybelline Super Stay 7 Days range, but wanted to try it out for myself.
First let's talk about the brush, because if the brush is rubbish the rest of the polish is useless (we have to be able to apply nail polish in an easy way, right?). The brush is thick and bed-width so one layer in enough to cover my entire nail (yeah!). The formula is not too thick, but gives enough coverage. Which means the colour on my nails looks the same as the colour of the polish in the bottle. I always find it really disappointing when the colour you fell for in the first place looks totally different after applied on the nails. But no worries here. The formula dries pretty quickly, and when my nails are totally dry they still have a shiny finish.
And now the big question, how many days did the last? Well, after 4 days my nail polish still looked nice and pretty shiny. But by the fifth day it was time for something else, although my nails were still chip-free. I'm not saying other women would have made the same choice, but because I simply like my nail polish to be perfect (or no polish at all) I had to remove this oh so lovely shade. The colour still looked alright, and maybe would have last a little bit longer if I didn't decide to have a huge clear out (throwing away old magazines, old tees and other stuff), and cleaned the entire kitchen and bathroom without wearing gloves. So if you don't decide to do anything like I did (while wearing this laquer), this great Maybelline New York Super Stay Gel Nail 7 Days will last the actual 7 days. Yes, people we have a winner. Now, let's hope Maybelline will bring out more stylish, fashionable shades this upcoming season. Can't wait to make my fingertips look fancy again.
