De producten die je komende maanden in mijn tas kunt tegenkomen;

Sometimes you'll read about a beauty product, that just seems too good to be true.
I've heard about this cult product called Skin Food by Weleda a couple of times. (I've read about it on other blogs and in magazines, and the story is even Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lopez love this stuff. So, worth trying).
It should be perfect for dry hands or elbows. But would also work great on the face.
I simply couldn't believe a cream that you can use on your body would also work great on my cheeks.
Because most of the time those products are just too thick, which feels horrible.
But because everyone was raving about it, I just had to give it a try.

First of all, Skin Food by Weleda is really affordable. I got the 30ml tube, and it only costs about 5 euros at De Tuinen (Dutch store). The packaging is really simple, but I kind of like that. It means it's all about the product.
The first thing that I liked is the scent. It smells a bit sweet, but in a none candy way. And makes you feel more relaxed in a second. The texture it quite thick, but the formula sinks in right away and leaves a really lovely glow. And ladies, how I love this glow! My hands look good. So say goodbye to dry, looking like a grandma, hands. Because this is what you need. After trying it on my hands, elbows and even my feet, it was time to test it on my face. So after cleansing my face at night, and before going to bed, I applied a normal layer. The texture feels nice, and perfect for the colder days during winter. And yes, it gives my skin a little bit of shine. But because I'm off to bed I don't care. The next day I woke up and this cult product has left my skin feeling über soft, and ready for a new and cold day.
I'm officially a fan of this oh so affordable skin loving product. You should give it a try, really.

Tip 2: Haarloos

Kleine moeite, groot effect. Gewoon even doen dus.

Van links naar rechts;

Echt heaven in a box.

When it comes to beauty I'm an huge makeup lover. Whether it's a Tom Ford lipstick in a new shade, a makeup palette with the most beautiful eyeshadows ever or the amazing package of a new blush, I'm in.
But when it comes to wearing makeup, I always like to look natural. Yes, I like a good red lip every now and then (who doesn't?). But foundation and complexion wise I'd like to keep things simple with a healthy glow. How? Well, all you need is the right shade and formula and you're good to go.

Here are my go to products for the no makeup makeup face (from left to right):
- In need of an even skin tone in a minute? This round Benefit Get Even compact is what you want. I've used the colour 03 for years. And while writing this blogpost I realized I haven't been using it for a while, and really don't know why, because it's just so good. It's a 'blot away shine & discoloration face powder', with a soft silky and creamy texture. Really different compare to other powders. And worth trying. Really.

- The oh so lovely Soleil Tan De Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder in 62 Terre Epice, wow! I have to admit I bought this product simply because I liked the packaging so much (fyi: this is what makeup lovers do). I loved the black and chic looking Chanel compact, and picked a colour I thought would be 'ok'. I was afraid of using it for such a long time (fyi: this is also what makeup lovers do, buying expensive products and then afraid of using it). But when I finally did, the powder felt so light and natural, I just had to use it more often. To me this is perfect during the end of the day for touch ups, since it adds the right amount shimmer. So perfect for a night out drinking a cocktail (or two).

- The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 8.5 is the first expensive foundation I ever bought. And I have no regrets since. This stuff is really, really good. The silky texture is nothing like similar products I tried before. After application you need some blending, but it will turn out really natural. The result always looks like the skin you've always wanted. Sounds perfect? Well, that's because it is.

- My go to everyday foundation these days is by No7, called the Stay Perfect (in Deeply Honey). This Superlight Foundation with SPF 15 is my drugstore alternative for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk option mentioned above. Te texture feels more 'watery' then silky, but still does the job in a no makeup way. And it's what I want: a flawless complexion with a barely there feel. After applying this Drugstore favorite I always use a powder.

- And my current favorite won't be a surprise: Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder with SPF 15 in No60. This is already my second one, and it won't be my last, I'm sure. I've talked about this product before, so you already know how much I love it. Besides the fact that it's very easy to apply, it just does something to my skin I can't describe. It takes away shine where I don't want it, but adds sheer where I really need it. Know what I mean? During summer, (my skin always looks better in July, don't know why), I only need a little of this scented powder on my nose and chin, and I'm good to go.

- Under eye problems are easy to fix with this Creamy Bobbi Brown Concealer (in Honey and Pale Yellow), plus a Sheer Finish Pressed Powder. The creamy texture is really amazing, so the products sink in right away. A travel friendly compact that I can really recommend to have in your travel makeup bag. The compact contains a mini mirror, so perfect for touch ups during a day when you feel like you could use a nap. (And yes, sometimes this is everyday).

My products change, but when looking natural I can't go without some concealer and a good healthy powder. It just makes my face look more like me: natural (with a little bit of makeup help that is).

I don't know what it is with me and Parisian women, but they always fascinate me. The way they dress (like they were in an hurry and put something on in the morning), the way they walk (looking straight forward and busy), the way their hair looks (healthy, but undone). But most of all, the way their skin looks. I mean, it's like they don't wear any makeup at all (but I know they do), without looking tired!
After being a beauty addict for many years now, I know skincare is huge in France. And if you've read my blog before you may have noticed I became a big consumer of the French Pharmacy myself. But besides that, makeup also plays it part when it comes to (almost) flawless looking skin. Parisian women wear makeup, but really natural. The don't cover every blemish, and that might be the key.
Step 1 is looking after your skin (drink water, remove your makeup before going to bed and moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize). Step 2 is wear makeup, but never overdo it. A little concealer never hurt anyone, but loving your imperfections actually might make you look perfect for the day.
I personally love the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder with SPF 15, by Chanel (in No 60). This compact (besides looking very chic in your handbag) is easy on the go, contains a mirror and the product smells amazing. But the most important thing: it actually works. It gives you glowing looking skin, but not like you're wearing a lot of makeup. I just repurchased my second compact, and can't wait to use this lovely powder again.

Is it possible to find a gloss that gives a hint of colour, makes your lips feel very soft, adds a natural shine, doesn't feel sticky, has no shimmer, is easily applied without a mirror and also smells great? Well, I guess there is. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector has been in my stash for a couple of years now. And I still don't know why I stopped using it the first time I got my hands on this amazing lip product, because I love it!
The last view months I actually have been wearing this lip goodie almost every day. They come in different shades, but I prefer number 01. The travel sized tube, that once came with a fashion magazine, is in my travel makeup bag. And as you can see, I'm almost running out. Which proves I am a big fan. And Autumn might be around the corner, which means the darker lipsticks are aloud again, but I know for sure I still will be carrying this lovely pink tube around in my handbag.

Even when it's Summer you can have an off day. The sun is shining, and everything looks prettier outside, but you still don't feel like getting out of bed. Sounds familiar? For days like these I can really recommend wearing a classic red lip.
Why?
- Because it's looks like you're wearing makeup (even the red lip is the only maquillage on your complexion),
- Anything from Chanel makes me smile (what's not to like?).
- And when you've got a bad hair day (which would explain the off day feeling), and the only way to wear your hair is up, the red lip will make you look dressed up in a second.

Tip: don't forget to wear your favorite bracelet (or any other accessory that makes you feel pretty).
It helps, really.

It's been a while since we've talked about skincare, (actually my favorite departement when it comes to beauty).
So, today it's all about my skincare routine.
The Cleaners
After a long day nothing feels better then a clean complexion.
I start by taking of my makeup with a cotton pad soaked in L'eau Démaquillante by Uriage. I use one cotton to remove my eye makeup, and a second one to clean the rest of my face.
After that I wash my face and use this amazing Purifying Foaming Cleanser by Kiehl's  and massage that into my skin. Which I then remove with a hot muslin cloth. (You will be surprised how much makeup still comes of my face). To exfoliate I use a tiny little bit of the Kiehl's Skin Brightening Exfoliator. This face scrub is gentle enough to use on a daily basis (but two times a week will work as well), without irritating your skin.
The Hydraters
After my skin feels all clean it needs some hydration. I love this creamy eye treatment with avocado (by Kiehl's). It might look like a thick cream at first, but when using a tiny bit it's actual perfect. In the morning I hydrated the rest of my face with the Ultra Facial Moisturizer wit SPF 30 (the first product that I bought from Kiehl's, ever). Besides the fact that this face cream contains a SPF, it also sinks in right away, and it's a nice base for my makeup.
Before going to bed, I love using this Day cream by Rêve de Miel for dry and sensitive skin. Whether it's winter or summer, this (by the way very nice scented) pot does the job perfectly. The next morning my skin has an healthy looking glow.
Other products I like to use are the Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner. Just a thin layer on top of my face cream, and before applying makeup. Or when I feel like my skin could use something extra: the Vitamin C+ Brighten serum By Úna Brennan. The inside of this small tube smells like summer, and has the perfect travel size. The other tube, not so travel size friendly, is a French classic, and a must have after a day in the sun: Biafineact. This cream is very light, and calms the skin after (too much) sun exposure.
One of my favorites is Effaclar Duo by La Roche-Posay. Everytime I feel like I'm getting a pimple, I just apply a little bit before I'm off to bed. And the next day it's looks like nothing happened in the first place. To my, this is a holy grail.
The Spoilers
Then there are the products that you didn't think you needed, but can't live without after using then.
The first product that I can really recommend is the Serozinc spray by La Roche-Posay.
Great for when your skin needs to calm down. It's a kind of spray toner, that kills bacteria. You can use this spray before or after applying makeup. I know many beauty bloggers have been going crazy about this product. And to be honest, the first time I tried it I didn't understood where all the fuzz was about. But after using it's for about a week, I started to understand the hype. (So when visiting France, get this product in bulk, it's so worth it).
Another product where (mainly) British bloggers were raving about is the Origins Drink-up Intensive Overnight mask. I bought this green tube at the airport during my recent trip to Barcelona. And one night after a couple glasses of Verdejo I decided to try this mask. (As my skin would be thirsty the next day). And when waking up, I didn't have an headache (thanks to Advil liquid), but I also didn't have the dehydrated skin I normally experience after nights like these. My skin felt soft, looked healthy (not dull at all). I mean, how great is this! To my opinion, a product everyone should try at least once.

When packing my makeup bag for a sunny holiday destination I'll try not to overpack.
Because most of the time I end up wearing no makeup at all during the day, because of the heat.
And just wear some easy to apply products to add some colour and glow at night. When visiting Barcelona last month these were some of the makeup bits I brought with me.
An classic and beautiful bronzing powder by Guerlain. I've been using this compact for years now, and I'll keep repurchasing it every time I run out. This no fuzz lip balm in a pot, also by Guerlain (don't you love their packing?!). This is the kind of my lips but better balm, that only you can see (so this looks really natural). A bright Chanel lipstick, that looks a lot brighter on this photo than in real life, to give me a hint of colour during the warm and long summer nights. And to add some golden shimmer I used this eyeshadow by L'oreal. You'll have to really blend this eyeshadow in, but it will look amazing. Don't forget to apply a nice layer of black mascara and you're good to go.

I love makeup bits from the drugstore with high end quality. And these Color Riche L'ombre Pure eyeshadows from L'oréal are just that. I know I've wrote about these before, right after I got my first shade. But soon after that blogpost I got two more. And I can honestly say I'm not disappointed. It's always a risk when buying more shades, because the formula can easily be different and so can the quality. But I kind of like all three of them. The texture is buttery soft, which (for me) makes the eyeshadow easy to apply on top of my eyelid (you can use a brush, but you fingers will work fine as well). And besides that, the colours are very easy to blend, which makes the darker shades perfect for a smokey eye. And what's not to like about that?

In a view weeks it will be April, which means more and more people are going away for the weekend. I like to visit Antwerp, Belgium. Especially when the sun is out. It's the perfect city to feel like you're not in The Netherlands anymore (while it's less then a 2 hours drive from Amsterdam), the shops are great and there're some nice restaurant that have amazing sushi (with consistent quality).
With me I'll be taking this duo by Caudalie. First the famous beauty elixer. Which is perfect for when you're feeling a little bit sick while driving. Or just spray it onto the face when you arrive, to freshen up the makeup you put on this morning. Second a creamy lip balm in stick. I'm not a fan of the scent, it reminds me of a hospital, but is does the job perfect. I never like to wear lipstick when I'm in the car for a while. I prefer to add some lip colour as soon as I arrive. But during the two hours from Amsterdam to Antwerp I do like to keep my lips hydrated, and this balm in a stick is hygienic and perfect for on the go. I can't wait to go and shop some Spring items in Antwerp.

Enjoy your day!

While all the March issue's of my favorites fashion magazines are hitting the kiosk, I'm really looking forward to Spring. Waking up with a blue sky, feeling the sun on my skin and wearing clothes that are too cold to wear now. But because we have to wait a while 'till Spring actually arrives I found a way to add some instant Spring colour to my everyday makeup look. These lipsticks are pink, but not in a girly way, which is perfect for me.

From top to buttom:
Rossetto Shinecreator by Deborah Milano in number 7, (with spf 15). This is a pink with a really buttery texture (reminded me of the Revlon lip butters), it smells great (very important) and costs about 11 euro. This lipstick looks a little red at first, but after applied onto the lips it's a dark pink kind of shade. I'm not crazy about the packaging, but I forget about that as soon as I smell the scent of this lip colour.

L'oréal Caresse in Impulsive Fuchsia is a really strong colour. I don't think I could wear this on a daily basis. To me it's more a lipstick I would wear while going out in the evening. It's a shade you can easily wear, as long as the rest of your makeup look is really basic and clean. The pigmentation is fine, but you do need to re-apply this L'oréal lip goodie every now and then, when having drinks. Costs about 15 euro, but is on offer almost every week (in the Netherlands).

This shade may look a little dark at first, but it's not. I'm talking about the Dior Addict Extreme in the shade Lucky. I got this a while ago, during summer, before going on holiday. I never where much makeup when I'm away. But I made an exception for this great pink shade. The finish is semi glossy, and the texture doesn't dry out my lips. It's not really long lasting, but I don't mind. Dior knows how to make a girl want to buy a lipstick when the packaging is this stunning. And no, that is not the only reason why I bought this pink perfect for summer shade. But I have to admit that the cool look of the lipstick made it a lot easier to choose. Costs? About 36 euro. Yes, that is a lot of money for a lipstick, I know. So make sure you buy smart: look for offers in department stores or other discounts. That's how I got mine, and it saved me a lot of cash.

Back when I was fifteen I got my first job in a local shoe shop. I can remember getting my first pay check like it was yesterday. At the time I wasn't living in Amsterdam like today, but I knew that was were I wanted to spent my first self earned money. I took the train to Amsterdam and found myself wondering and looking for something I had my eye on for a while. It was then that pointed heels were totally knew, and I found the perfect pair. Before heading home I visited De Bijenkorf (Dutch department store). I loved looking at all the chic looking makeup counters. One that was very different from the rest was the beauty counter by Calvin Klein. Designed all white and spacious I couldn't help myself from having a quick look. That visit resulted in buying my first lipstick. I remember that I wanted a classic red, with a brown and natural looking undertone. And that's what I found. The next thing I knew I was sitting in the train, on my way back home, feeling all grown up. Not only did I buy the most fashionable (kitten) black pointed heels and a classic red lipstick to match, but I purchased everything with my own money. And that was a feeling I absolutely loved.

Shown above: lipstick in Berry, by Calvin Klein. Unfortunately Calvin Klein cosmetics left the Netherlands a year later. A view years ago it was back again, including a new design and colour palette. It was sold at Douglas (Dutch cosmetics store), but I don't think they sell this particular brand  anymore.
FIY: I kept the lipstick all these years. And yes, I still have those heels as well.

This cover of the February issue of British Vogue really makes me want to jump into Spring right away. I'm so done with the cold, wearing thick coats, cosy sweaters and boots. That's why tomorrow I'll be wearing these three makeup products, so at least my make up already looks like it's sunny outside. Wearing Dior polish in Pink Porcelain, Revlon lip butter in Peach Parfait, plus a thin layer of this great looking gloss (in Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer 149) by Chanel.

The downside of being a beauty fan is that you sometimes forget products you had. Last weekend I went through my stash (the most budget friendly way of beauty shopping if you ask me) and found two lipsticks I really liked at the time. But other lipsticks came along (what a surprise), and I totally forgot about these. The red lipstick is in Cherry Blossom by Revlon. I always like their lipsticks, but it's hard to get my hands on this brand in the Netherlands. I got this shade in London, during a city break years ago. The formula is really creamy, and last a good amount of hours before a  proper touch up is needed. The packaging is simple, black and with a handy window on top to see the colour (perfect for when you have a lot from this range).
The other lipstick I found (again) is a my lips but better shade in Devotion, by BE Creative Makeup. This brand is only available at Ici ParisXL (The Netherlands and Belgium). At the time I was on the hunt for a dupe of my favorite lipstick (Scénario by Chanel). The black matt square packaging is nice to look at and the shade still suits me. So, I still like both shades and would definitely wear these lipsticks in the upcoming weeks. Beauty shopping has never been so cheap.

It's already February, and as mentioned before I can't wait 'till Spring is here. While the new summer collections are hitting the shops, we stil have to deal with cold winter days. So today I'm showing you four products to survive the last months of winter.

- A face cream that gives my skin instant hydration: Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra Comfortable Face Cream. This might look thick at worst, but melts as soon as you apply a small amount. Your complexion will thank you, really.
- The lip balm that leaves a (thick) protected layer: Kiko night balm, nourishing lip treatment. You can also wear this during daytime, but I prefer the nights, because it's too shiny too wear under a matt lipstick.
- A hair cream to maintain those shiny and healthy looking ends of your hair: Coconut oil Hair Shine by The Body Shop. This is with coconut oil to smooth and add shine and perfect for all hair types.
- A hand cream that prevent my hands from looking old and wrinkled: Supreme body lotion, By Sephora, in travel size, which I use as an hand cream.

Sometimes you use a makeup product that often, you almost forget how amazing it actually is. I'm talking about the Blot Pressed Powder by MAC (I use the colour Dark, with matches my complexion perfectly). This pressed product is a powder you use to mattify your skin (hello shine control), without adding any noticeable colour or texture. It's sets foundation and finishes faces. You can apply this in the morning, but also during the day for easy touch ups. When I'm on the go I apply the pressed powder with the puff (easy to clean with a little shampoo) that comes in the compact, but at home I use a big blush brush.
Why I like it? Because it always works. Whether I'm on my way for lunch or on holiday it always does the job. Meaning it takes off that greasy shine we don't want, but let's the pretty sheen shine through, we do want. But also because I like the fact that it's a pressed powder. Loose powder becomes such a mess, especially when traveling (and I'm always afraid the pot will open en ruin the inside of my bag or suitcase).  Anyway, I just don't like working with loose powders. It's just not for me. Packaging-wise it's a slim black compact (like all MAC makeup) with a mirror inside. This way it's like it was made for traveling inside my makeup bag.

Also shown above: Rouge in Love red lipstick by Lancôme (evenings out), classic Lip Balm by Kiehl's (the base) and Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mega Melon, by Clinique (daytime).

Well, I have a confession to make: I'm a real pain in the bottom when it comes to perfume. When looking for the right scent I found the majority too floral, way too heavy (it's very often that particular scents give me an headache), too girly, too musky or too much like toilet cleaner and yes even too much grandma smelling (no offense). And when I finally found a perfume I liked, I didn't liked it enough to be wearing every day. Like Sun by Jil Sander for example. I've gone though many bottles of this lovely scent (always reminds me of summer). It's perfect for holiday season, but it's just not the kind of perfume I like to spray on every day.
I was into perfume from a very young age. My mother always had (and still has) these chique looking bottles on her vanity and when it was a special day (like the first day of a new year at school, my birthday or any other festivity) I was aloud to wear a little drop behind my ears and onto my wrists (yes, my mom thought me good).
So when did I find my signature scent? This was years ago, at the time when I used to wear Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger, Cool Water by Davidoff and L'eau D'issey by Issey Miyake (FIY: all these fragrances would give me a headache nowadays). I accidentally tried Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent while shopping for a present, and couldn't stop smelling my wrist the rest of the day. I told my mom that I found this amazing perfume and told her name of the scent. Not knowing that next Christmas, a view months later, I found a little package with my name on it: I was around seventeen and in perfume heaven. And I haven't found anything better, since.
When I'm wearing Cinéma, almost everyday, people always tell me I smell great (what's not to like, right?). But besides that, and the fact that the simple design of the bottle is perfect, the scent is nothing like anything else you've ever tried. It's fresh, but not in a standard way. It's chique and classic, but not too musky. And it lasts the entire day (all of my shawls smell amazing because of this perfume). Since founding my perfect match I tried other perfumes as well, but nothing beats Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent.
