Oftewel, koopavond in Amsterdam.

Finding the shoes you loved, but never bought, on sale and only in your size? Well, that's like the definition of meant to be, right? And that's exactly what happened last Saturday when I visited one of my favorite new shops in Amsterdam: & Other Stories. The heels caught my eyes months ago, but because I already just got myself a pair off strappy sandals I decided not to purchase them. I told myself I didn't need another pair off black heels, and left the shop before I could change my mind. But when I went shopping this weekend, and the sale had just started, they suddenly starred at me. And when I found out they were on sale (70% off and in my size!), I just couldn't resist. And had to take them home with me. Why? Because sometimes it's just meant to be.

People who know my style are aware of the fact that I don't wear a lot of colour. I  do like to look at all the amazing street style pics of fashionista's wearing the brightest kind of printed coats, carry around yellow bags, red cashmere sweaters or a mix of all of them. And I do like a pop of colour every now and them (pink suede pumps, an orange bag), but usually I tend to go for the more classic black, navy and naturel pieces. And that's what happened when I fell in love with this new item. The fabric feels really soft and is a little thick, but knowing that actually makes it perfect for Spring in Amsterdam. Which means cold(er) mornings when you're on your way to work, and sunny afternoons (with sometimes a little bit of rain).
Why I love this new piece of clothing so much? Because it's so easy to combine with a lot of different outfits. I will wear this handmade flared jacket with skinny jeans, white tees and flats, or over an all black outfit (again skinny jeans plus an black top and strappy sandals). And just imagine how great this colour (beige marl, yes I also never heard of this shade of beige before) will look with my favorite navy jeans and a navy cashmere sweater (adding a pop of colour while wearing high heels)? And what about throwing this cosy coat over my shoulders, when wearing a little black dress and (of course) another pair of high heels. It will add some casual chicness I really love.
See, the variety of combinations is endless. And besides that, this coat can also be worn as a thick cardigan next Autumn. And did I mention the lovely pockets? I mean c'mon they just make this jacket even more perfect.

Since falling in love with beauty, and by that I mean not being able to pass a Chanel counter without checking out the latest nail polishes, reading every beauty blog there is, wanting to try out every new skincare range that caught my attention and owning too many lip products, (well you can never own too many lip products if you ask me, but you know what I mean), I've been on the hunt for the right makeup bag. I started with a small leather makeup case, so I could carry around my essentials during the day. But it wasn't long until that case wasn't big enough anymore. I mean, it was perfect at the time, but I wanted something different. And after years of trying out all kind of different (yet nice looking) beauty bags I found the perfect one. I was looking for a bag that was big enough to fit my everyday essentials, but also other products that I'm loving or trying at the moment.
A bag that would look nice on my dressing table (I preferred the colour black), made of real leather and had a simple design. It was not supposed to be a makeup bag that I would carry around in my handbag anymore, but it would come in handy if I could fit in my makeup stuff when I'm on holiday. And that's exactly what I've found. This bag is big, but not too big. And wide enough, so I can find everything I need in a second. I can even use this bag as a big clutch, when needed. And I absolutely love the simple, timeless design. Just the way I like it.

Starting a new year feels like a fresh start. And what better way to start fresh than with a brand new bag? The minute this classic bag caught my eye I knew I was in love. And at Christmas I found this new love under the tree. I know, I'm a lucky girl. Now let's talk about the bag. It's not too big, but not too small either. I think all my daily essentials will fit in perfectly (a 'What's In My Bag' post will come up soon, I promise). The design is sleek, classic and timeless, just the way I like it. The mother of pearl twist lock closure makes this one a little different, comparing them to similar bags I own. I always fall for chain strap bags, which for me really makes this bag classic (and not boring). Inside there is a small zip compartment (perfect for my public transport card) and another small department for my Iphone. The pro's of a classic bag like this beauty? It goes with any outfit. Whether you're all dressed in stylish black, wearing blue jeans with white tees and strappy nude sandals or a navy blue (COS kind of style) dress, this bag is the perfect match. Did I mentioned that I feel like one happy lady?
